Are there backpacks for female dogs that have had a litter. My dog treats are easily irritated with the hot Georgia heat ( 95-105) during summer until late September. Does that harness cause friction that will irritate also. Thank you Sir

I realize that Britain is now on or near the agonic line. Therefore, magnetic would be negligible. However, you should offset for magnetic declination after you take your grid bearing from the map & before you step off if you’re east or west of the agonic line. Very good instruction otherwise!

Tried the Paramo Cascadia trousers on a wet, snowy day in the Brecon Beacons. Failed within an hour with cold water streaming down my legs. Had to abort, since washed and reproofed but not confident to try again. Do I have to wear long base layer under them?

Interesting real world test. I agree with the idea that that it doesn’t matter to me how fast water boils. I’m more impressed by how well that it simmers and cooks over all. If I can, I avoid freeze dried food. I prefer the wind burner over the reactor.

is wild camping legal in England? I thought it was only allowed in Scotland and in England etc you can only camp in camp sites?

really useful video Shamus! Had my robens tent fail on my on Friday due to wind. One guy rope snapped, then after fixing it and wind still battering the tent decided to abort the camp. Looking into getting some 22cm tube steaks but makes me concerned then that the tent fabric is then the weakest link in the chain. Do you have any insight/advice on this as to if it's better for the peg/guy to fail than them hold and result in a torn tent instead? Thanks.

one disadvantage with the MSR Groundhog style Ys - they will really hurt your foot if you tread on them. One went right through the bottom of a kid’s beach shoe.

Great tips man! Ive some years of experience with wildcamping and will finally adopt a dog this year! Cant wait for it to be grown and trained enough to join me on my camping trips. It looks like a great experience and incredible type of bonding 😍

You have a very beautiful GS. My last dog was a GS and she was wonderful. She was very hardy and needed no sleep system ever. My present trail companion is a 50 pound hound mix and she has her own foam pad, jacket and down quilt. We have done some very long trips, 270 miles or so and we are preparing to hike the Colorado Trail this summer, it’s about 500 miles. I had a similar pack but it caused my dog issues so I now carry everything. For me it’s just easier and she seems happier. I use a 60 L pack and it works well for five day carries before we resupply. If you get a chance please check out a channel called The Most Important Step. It’s a young woman who hikes with her GS and another small dog. I have learned a lot from her. She has done the CDT in the US which is about 3,000 miles. In the U.S. is possibly the most demanding hike we have. Thanks for sharing your experience.

is it disrespectful to other campers to bring a dog that doesn't have 100% recall? I have a long lead (which I would keep her on) and she is friendly, and well-behaved, she sometimes just gets too excited and wont come when called! I want her to experience these things because I know she'd love it, but just want to be a good dog owner also - any tips would be great

Active dogs do need a job. Something they do that they look forward to doing consistently. My two boxer/black lab mix, 85lbs put in 50 miles a week on the hiking trails. I have trained them to relate hikes with specific appropriate behaiviors. I call this "their job". It's very different than play time the other parts of the day. They know when their harnesses go on, it's time to shape up and hike. No chasing, not stubbornness. Ceasar is right in that regard.

Had a few oex tents, never had a leak on any seams or zipz. Quality gear for the price.

Hi, I was looking at getting this tent; the only thing putting me off is the mesh door; does the cold air not blow through the mesh? I prefer the door on the Nallo, but I don't need a 4 season tent.
